I don’t know about you but I love the festive season and unwrapping presents on Christmas Day. You can’t beat a nice cold day with a glass of mulled wine in one hand and a mince pie in the other. The bit I’m not so keen on is trying to think of interesting gifts that haven’t already been bought the year before for friends and family. This is even harder for people with big families or for the office secret Santa. That’s why I always try to buy local, looking for products made by interesting and creative companies and makers. The south-west is a hive of productivity and you can rest assured you’ll find something for everyone being made close to home.
It’s in this spirit that we have stocked our shop, to celebrate the people behind the items. Every product we sell has to be made within the south-west. 90% of our products come from Devon with a few coming up from Cornwall and some from Dorset. Most have very low food miles and nearly all our products are plastic-free or fully compostable. So, besides the bottle of English wine (which would go very well with the Christmas Day turkey) you’ll be sure to find plenty of other lovely, local products at our on-site shop.
Whether you’re looking for gin, rum or vodka. Or wanting to give someone the experience of visiting our award-winning vineyard. Perhaps you have a friend who loves tea, jams or peanut butter. We even stock locally made plastic-free cosmetics and you can build your own hamper of a mixture of items.
Here are a few of our products, all dressed up ready for Christmas. All available in our vineyard shop Thurs-Sat 10-4pm.
Our Wines
Our award-winning wines make fantastic gifts, wrapped up or even as a treat for the Christmas lunch. You can’t get better than a local wine to go with a nice slice of turkey.
You can order wine online here or visit our on-site shop.
Bottle Balancers
Our new hand made bottle balancers are a fantastic way of displaying a bottle as a centrepiece on the table or on the mantlepiece next to the kids’ stockings.
Tour and Tasting Vouchers
Why not treat your loved ones to a Tour and Tasting Experience here at the vineyard. Vouchers can be redeemed within 18 months of purchase but we recommend visiting during the summer to see the vineyard at its best and to find out how we grow our grapes, nestled below Dartmoor.
You can buy vouchers online here.
Tors Vodka
This gloriously smooth vodka is made in Okehampton, just a few miles away, with water from Dartmoor. Their latest addition to the range is these fruit liqueurs. Perfect on their own, with a mixer or drizzled over a fruit salad.
Two Drifters Rum
These rums (White, spiced and dark) come from Exeter. From the worlds first carbon-negative distillery. Made from scratch in their new, state of the art facilities these rums are a real delight. Try pairing the spiced rum with a Luscombe Ginger Beer for the perfect drink.
Papillion Gin
Created using botanicals foraged for by hand on Dartmoor, its no wonder the wonderful Claire and Adam at Papillion Gin are winning awards on a global level. Taste the violets and subtle flavours in the original gin, or go bold and try The Admiral, the navy strength alternative.
Wicked Wolf
Also created in Devon, this time on Exmoor, Wicked Wolf Gin is alive with warming spices such as star anise. Pair with a nice local tonic from Luscombe and try not to finish the whole bottle in one sitting!
Bere Brewery Real Ales
Brewed in the Tamar Valley, these bottle conditioned beers are created to showcase distinctive local characteristics. Bere Brewery uses homegrown hops and sustainable techniques to capture these flavours.
Sandford Orchards Ciders
You can’t beat cider made in the south-west and Sandford orchards are one of the best producers around! Made near Crediton using modern versions of age-old techniques to create interesting and distinct ciders.
Willie’s Cacao
These are some of the most divine chocolate bars we have ever tasted and they are made in Devon. Using specifically chosen beans from all over the world in a way that allows the natural flavours to dominate the bar.
Butter Bike Peanut Butters
These amazing peanut butters are made in Exeter. Originally, jars would be filled and delivered across the city by bike to eager peanut butter fans. Each jar is free of added oils, sugar and preservatives making them that much tastier.
Naturally Gorgeous Cosmetics
Born from a belief that too much plastic is ending up in the oceans, this range of soaps, shampoos, conditioners and moisturisers are completely plastic-free. They are also chemical-free, using natural oils and components derived from plants and other natural sources. They smell amazing, are kind to your skin and make the perfect stocking filler.
