Those who have previously visited Alder Vineyard will no doubt have admired the lovely gardens of Alder House as they wander up to the vineyard entrance. Many comment on the beautiful gardens and explore whilst visiting. At the end of the month, the gardens will be open to all as part of a charity day, raising ever needed funds for St. Luke’s Hospice.
The gardens open regularly for various charities and provide visitors with plenty to see! The gardens that surround the house are extensive. On your walk around you will find the beautiful herbaceous garden, the ferns and grasses garden as well as a water fountain and rill. Vegetable patches and fruit cages can also be found and of course, the vineyard will be open for walks through the vines. Wander further afield to the lake, or through the lime avenue to the pond and summer house.
That’s not all…
Once you’ve enjoyed the gardens to their full, you could rest your legs whilst eating a delicious cream tea sat in front of the house or with an ice-cream from Taw River Dairy.
New this year to the Open Gardens are a selection of local produce stalls including herbs and plants for sale, ethically produced clothing from Katie and Flora and gorgeous pottery pieces from ‘The Potting Shed’. The Vineyard shop will be open as usual and joining us will be Tors Vodka for a tasting of their super local Vodka.
We would love to see you there.
The gardens are open 2-5pm, 30th of June.
