Introducing our second vintage to be grown, produced and bottled by our very own team. 2021 wasn’t quite the scorcher we experienced in 2020 yet the character here is shining bright. Paler in appearance than its predecessor, fruitier yet equally delicate. Think melon, apple and more tropical fruits than ever before. Enjoy!
Dry, melon and apple
Chicken, pasta and seafood
Pale in colour, dry and gloriously fruity, our Madeleine Angevine is a treat for your tastebuds. As each bottle is so light and refreshing we recommend serving perfectly chilled (4°C) to accompany chicken dishes, fresh Devon seafood or pasta.
2021 was an exciting and progressive year for us. Not only did we jump into our second vintage with renewed passion but we also put our new bougies to the test during a trying period of frosty nights. By protecting the vines against mother nature, we managed to not only save what was to become a great crop but also give the vines a much-needed pick-me-up after a turbulent few years. The rest of the season was a great one. Not as sunny as 2020’s scorcher but equally as impressive and more than enough to develop this second vintage grown and produced on site.

After tasting a bottle, or two (such a chore) we fell head over heels for the dry, crisp and fruity taste of the Madeleine Angevine. Originally found in The Loire Valley in France, 3,500 vines now call our patch on the edge of Dartmoor home. They love our cooler climate making for a truly special glass.
‘Fantastic wine, sat back home now enjoying a glass of white wine! And only normally drink red, but your white has so much flavour and is not over acidic.’
Phil Shelton
‘Really impressed with the wine, had the white last night with one of our home-reared chickens, a match made in heaven with almost 0 food miles’
Andy Lawrence

Lovely fresh wine
Belinda Wheeler –
I love Madeleine Angevine and this is a really delicious example from Alder. This one is just off dry and quite full flavoured. Somewhere between fruity and flowery. Really lovely. I shall but it again.
Richard Kelsey –
Had a bottle of your superb madeleine angevine at the dartmior Inn recently. Will definitely be buying this one for ourselves, so fruity . Thank-you
Stephen Green –
What an absolutely delightful morning!
Just completed a thoroughly informative interesting and enjoyable tour and tasting at Alder Vineyard.
Tom our guide was charming, keen to share the history and secrets of growing grapes and making wine. Nothing was too much trouble.
The coffee and cake were delicious. I was sceptical about English wine before this visit but came away with a case of lovely wine.
Says it all really!!!!
Nigel Hooper –
Excellent tour followed by lunch. White wine to be recommended.
Thank you all.
