NEW! 2022 release | After a short hiatus our Rondo rosé is back and boy have we missed it! 2022 was a blessing to the vines. Whilst we baked in the heatwaves of a gorgeous summer the vines thrived and produced a bumper crop. Well-balanced and fruity as ever, the ‘summer in a bottle’ vibe is back to keep you refreshed in the summer sun, or to compliment some delicious meals.
Off dry, Summer berries
Pair with charcuterie, paella + Asian dishes
Bold in colour and flavour our Rondo rosé serves up delicious hints of strawberry and raspberry with zingy cranberries and cherries to finish. Why not sit back and relax with a chilled glass (4°C) in hand or pair with delicate meats such as duck, lamb and fresh Devon seafood. The finishing touch to a BBQ or summer evening in the garden. We also love to pair our Rondo rosé with local charcuterie, fresh paella + Asian dishes.
2022 was a scorcher! I think we all felt it as we heard the news of record-breaking temperatures and crazy wildfires across the UK and Europe. Whilst some effects were of course unwanted and left us a bit hot, bothered and sunburnt, our vines thrived and produced a bumper crop of fantastic, quality grapes. The year started well, without any frost risk and led into an extraordinary year, one to remember. It was a pleasure to pick this harvest with our great team of volunteers and even nicer to follow its progression through the winery over the winter. We bottled over 3000 bottles of this vintage to keep us all going and to make sure everyone stays refreshed as we head into summer 2023.

We planted our first 500 Rondo (originally from Germany) back in 2012 as a bit of a test next to our Madeleine Angevine. It paid off, the vines love it with us at Alder and grow like crazy (it can be fun pruning them though). Our Rondo rosé has been such a hit that we now have around 1,000 vines and are looking to expand again. Seems everyone wants a bottle of sunshine!
‘Hands down the best English wine I’ve tried (which is a lot!?) and lovely people to boot’
Beer_and_bicycles
‘Excellent wines, particularly the rose, which cries out for a sunny afternoon!’

We love wine here at Alder Vineyard but it’s useful to remember that wine is of course an alcoholic product. Whilst wine can be enjoyed in moderation, it is important to seek help and advice if you think you, or a loved one is drinking too much.
You must be 18 or over to purchase wine and other alcoholic products.
Our Kitchen is well stocked with drinks from across Devon and beyond and proudly includes several non-alcoholic options. This includes non-alcoholic beers, gin-alternatives, mocktails and of course, soft drinks.
If you think you, or a loved one may need help and support due to alcohol misuse, please use the links below to find incredibly useful charities and resources that can help you.
We are proudly committed to protecting our environment and the planet in any way we possibly can. Our ethical and sustainable practices are at the heart of what we do here.

A perfect picnic wine. Light in alcohol and very fruity. We drank the whole bottle sitting in the garden in the lockdown sunshine. Perfect!

We visited the vineyard on the most beautiful day, we toured the vines and tasted the amazing wine, and stayed for a bite to eat, all in all a fantastic day out. You can feel the love this family have for what they do, and they should be proud of the wine it produces.
Phillip Parker –
Tried this lovely rosé in the Blue Lion Inn, also in Lewdown, and it was a wonderful addition to our meal. An enticing nose, rewarded with a beautiful, fruity flavour.
We shall be popping over to Alder soon for a few bottles.
